About Independent Baptist Camp

About us

Independent Baptist Camp consists of several local, Independent Baptist Pastors and Churches who have joined together to provide a unique and spiritually refreshing week of Bible camping.  Since 1990, Independent Baptist Camp has offered a tremendous week of Christian camping and old-fashioned Bible Preaching for young people.  We make no bones about it: at IBC, young people will be challenged in their Christian lives, will forge life-long friendships, will learn much in the way of practical Christianity, and will be delighted by the fun activities of the week.

Independent Baptist Camp convenes annually at the beginning of June in the mountains above beautiful Ogden, Utah.  While somewhat rustic, the campground is surprisingly modern, with plenty of hot showers, modern bathroom facilities, and a full kitchen staffed by volunteers from participating churches.  Staff is carefully screened and selected from our own congregations, and most staff members have dedicated this week for many, many years now.  Through years of working together in this important ministry, the camp staff has developed a kinship and camaraderie that is both genuine and refreshing.
The young people who attend literally have the opportunity to “grow up together.”  Year after year, we have the privilege of welcoming many of the same faces of young people who come year after year.  Those young people who move away to other states will often fly back, just so they don’t miss this wonderful week.
Some of the most important decisions a young person can make are made at camp, and we love to offer counsel and guidance to our young people as they come year after year.  Because we host our own camp, Pastors and Youth Pastors have the opportunity to counsel their own young people, applying their own personal relationship to the decisions at hand.  At Independent Baptist Camp, you will not be disappointed by the spiritual growth, the renewed devotion, the soul-searching decisions, and the delightful memories that will be made.

Let us extend a warm welcome to you.  We might be exactly the kind of camp you were looking for.  We hope so.  And if we are, we hope that you will consider bringing a group to our camp this summer!

What goes on at camp?

  • One Overriding Theme
All the pastors involved in the camp get together a few months before camp begins to plan out the theme for the next year’s camp.  The pastors choose a Bible-centered theme and seek to build the entire program around that theme.  Morning chapel times, guided discussions for the senior campers, games, activities, decorations, and even the famous camp t-shirts play a vital role in immersing the campers in a Bible truth that will stick with them for years to come.
  • Preaching and Teaching
The preaching of God’s Word is central to a great week of camp.  The main preacher for the week is chosen after careful discussion among the pastors.  Throughout the week, we encourage every camper to pursue God through Jesus Christ.  Above all else, we want our week of camp to strengthen every camper in their relationship with God.  We provide a variety of teaching and preaching sessions, including private devotions in the morning, a devotional time before breakfast, morning chapel services, a guided discussion time, Bible memory, and our main service every evening.  At every opportunity, the glory of God and His grace in salvation are proclaimed, and the Christian’s duty to walk humbly with God is promoted.  Senior campers are encouraged to join the youth choir as well.
  • Friends and Fellowship
Young people are encouraged to love the Lord by loving each other.  We want friendship and respect to be the prevailing attitude.  Being cabined with campers of the same age encourages friendships that can last a lifetime.  Counselors work hard to ensure that campers are adequately supervised, and have someone to go to with questions. Campers are encouraged to dive into activities with enthusiasm, to serve together cheerfully, to laugh, to play, to sing, to build relationships through the week, and to do everything to the glory of God.  Campers will have the opportunity to serve each other during the week, whether at the dish corral, through cabin cleanup, or through various chores assigned during the week.
  • Games and Activities
Games and activities build off the week’s theme, and the camp staff works hard to make this a fun week full of good memories.  Activities include a wide range of games and often a big event for the week.  A few of the pastors build a confidence course each year to challenge campers and build their confidence.  The camp has a beautiful, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and our camp makes good use of it throughout the week – always keeping the girls separate from the boys during swim times.  Delicious meals are served from a state-of-the-art kitchen, with food enough to keep up with the growing appetites of both campers and staff.  The camp staff even puts on some homespun humor in the nightly skit time.  All this in order to make camp week an experience campers will never forget.
